Airing tonight on HBO @ 9 PM EST (also Streaming on MAX) is the premier of “Surveilled” a Ronan Farrow documentary about the multi-billion dollar spyware industry and its usage in the hands of governments, including right here at home in the good ole U-S-of-A. A certified must-watch for those of us who willingly put our deepest darkest personal info into the hands of our cellular co-pilot and daily companion.

Yet despite Verizon Cable’s best attempts to foil my viewing experience of “surveilled (2024)” with its own subtle disinformation tactics. I will be tuning in regardless of what their (mis)guide tells me. Which, is apparently that @ 9 pm a low-budget horror flick of the same title will be airing this evening on HBO. I can promise you that if I had been aimlessly channel surfing, as I often do, I would have intentionally avoided this listing like it was the new Covid variant and missed out on something I am genuinely interested in watching.

BTW, this is a topic that does not discriminate, regardless of your background or political leanings, this technology will affect you in one form or another going forward, that’s if you haven’t been victimized by it already. So in case you were looking for a deeper dive into the nuts and bolts of “Surveilled” from a second opinionated stranger. Here is the first one I came across during my internet globetrotting .

Or if the sound of the low-budget horror version of “Surveilled(2021)” is more your speed, you’ll get no smoke from me. I’m a firm believer in the “to each their own” ideology in regards to living life. The serial killer edition is currently available to stream on FUBO. Which, awkwardly until about two minutes ago, I would have sworn on a stack of Bibles that FUBO was either slang for something I’m not cool enough to know, or perhaps a clothing line I’m not “crispy”(humble brag) enough to wear. However, from the 2 whole YOUTUBE comments in existence, I would strongly advise going in, to have the lowest expectations physically allowable. Because the results were concerning at best and not that far off from the budgetary estimates Google had to offer.
