While aimlessly strolling through the dystopian cesspool that is the modern-day internet and doing everything in my power to avoid the triggering of any and all political landmines laying dormant along my search path. The kind that would ultimately send my current “Nothing to see here” faux good mood into a lengthy hibernation. That’s when I came upon, just the sort of optimistic story that warms the soul during the often stressful election holiday season. Now let’s cue Stephen Knight and his genuine jubilation after officially being named the recipient of this year’s “CNN Hero Of The Year”, that caught my attention.
Then, as you get into the nuts and bolts of this once unsung hero’s backstory, you quickly find yourself co-signing CNN’s decision to sing Knight’s praises on their biggest stage. As you may or may not know, Addicts seeking help can often encounter many hurdles to clear before deciding to enter a treatment facility. No matter if it’s government red tape, a lack of medical insurance, or other personal and financial reasons. Those are the types of obstacles that can morph into effortless excuses. Rationalizations that an Addict’s brain uses to avoid sobriety at all costs regardless of their legitimacy. So anytime someone comes along and removes just one of those self-constructed or justifiable deterrents, preventing potential life-saving progress. A simple gesture like that can rescue an unknown number of individuals in their time of need.
As you usually find with innovative ideas, they originate from the creator’s unique needs. So it should come as no surprise that Steven Knight, a dog-owning addict who once sought recovery care. Then when no such services were available to tend to his friend’s fury companion throughout their lengthy absence at rehab. That’s when Steven took it upon himself to fill the void with a common-sense solution to take on the dog’s shelter. A decision he claims ultimately saved himself and his new pet. The world is a far better place to be when people like Knight step up to assist those struggling at their lowest point imaginable. Now, despite what Marvel and DC Comics would have you believe, real heroes don’t require superpowers. But sadly, in this day and age, empathy is a human characteristic considered just as rare.
Today’s Palate Cleanser is an update to a local story I was unaware of until this morning. A former Duck-Boat operator gave a young boy a life-saving gift that bonded the two forever. Now, as a 21-year-old, the prior marrow recipient is repaying the Medford Man for his timely donation. Standing by his closest pal’s side as he embarks on a high-risk journey of his own.

He has done more in the past month since becoming president than Biden did in the last 4 years. So I really need to point out how much better off the country is now with Trump in office for a month so much better then Biden and the commies.

Although I do agree in principle with your lovely Grandmother’s theory. It appears that you and Trump are the perfect examples of how just because you do, doesn’t mean you’re qualified for the mission at hand. For instance, you obviously participate in the English language and political debates often, with barely elementary school comprehension of both. So despite being in awe of your confidence-to-“shit for brains” ratio, I must point out the multiple fatal flaws in your bold assessment. I realize that Donald Trump won the election, but until January 20th (Inauguration Day) he isn’t in office yet. So your scathing takedown of President Biden was, in fact, a compliment of a job well done during his final days. Perhaps you should continue reading my other articles because it appears you are woefully misinformed. At the very least Google President Biden’s list of accomplishments and compare and contrast that to Trump’s. My guess is you will be pleasantly surprised with the results. You will find Biden is the most legislatively accomplished four-year President in history and besides Trump’s tax breaks for the rich, his Supreme Court appointments, his net loss of jobs, his crumbling of the world’s economy due to negligence (Disbanded the Pandemic Response Team of 5,000 doctors and scientists who could’ve contained the pandemic in its infancy), negotiating with terrorist (Taliban) and arming Iran with nuclear weapons capabilities, he didn’t follow through on any of his campaign promises. Don’t trust and rely on me or anyone else with your political views. Do the research and come up with your own viewpoints based on truth and facts alone. I do appreciate you reading my work and hope you never lose that passion to better this country. It’s what makes this nation the best place on earth to live, agreeing to disagree politically.
