It’s no secret I am not a fan of social media. However, I realize it is a necessary evil for some of us. I do feel sympathetic for those who rely upon it for their income. But with social media, there’s no shortage of platforms to pivot towards nowadays. I kicked my Facebook habit in the summer of 2016, leading up to the election. I was fed up with all the disinformation spread on both sides of the aisle. Sadly, it was just the beginning of what the industry has devolved into today, a complete circle jerk of political lies. So now that one of the leading sources of misinformation in the world may go bye-bye, I’m not saddened. Since TikTok’s algorithm is overseen by the Wilt Chamberlin of propagandist regimes. Although In the fake news hierarchy, the Russians are the Michael Jordan because no one’s better. But when it comes to sheer volume, no one’s fucked more people than China has.

If you thought allowing the TikTok / Chinese government collab unlimited access to your personal communications was the pinnacle of gullibility. Then you’ve severely overestimated Gen Z’s intelligence level. Instead of finding an American alternative to this generation’s favorite social media algorithm, these propaganda junkies doubled down on their misinformed allegiance to Beijing data collection by flocking to Red Note in droves, as if this China-based platform, was handing out free Cybertrucks to its users. Not setting another national security booby trap for misguided youth to willingly jump into with both feet.

I’m always stunned at this generation’s loyalty to all the wrong things. When you stand up for billion-dollar corporations but leave your friends hanging all the time, your priorities are out of whack, in my opinion. Having brand loyalty is commendable, don’t get me wrong. However, when you and your followers are the commodity being sold to the highest bidder. It’s as if your loyalty lies with your pimp, not all the johns out on these internet streets paying you for your services. Unless being TikTok’s submissive Bottom Bitch is your thing. Then, you do you. Otherwise, take your talents elsewhere. A wise man once said, “If you build it, they will come.”
